Energy usage data available to the public
PG&E provides non-confidential, aggregated usage data that are available to the public and updated on a quarterly basis. These public datasets consist of monthly consumption aggregated by ZIP code and by customer segment: Residential, Commercial, Industrial and Agricultural. The public datasets must meet the standards for aggregating and anonymizing customer data pursuant to CPUC Decision 14-05-016, as follows: a minimum of 100 Residential customers; a minimum of 15 Non-Residential customers, with no single Non-Residential customer in each sector accounting for more than 15% of the total consumption. If the aggregation standard is not met, the consumption will be combined with a neighboring ZIP code until the aggregation requirements are met.

Greenhouse Gas Inventory Data for Climate Action Planning
PG&E offers municipal governments in PG&E’s service territory access to standardized information on community energy use. These reports provide community energy use details and can assist with sustainability planning and greenhouse gas inventories. These reports are the Community Inventory Reports.
City or County employees can request their own municipalities’ Community Inventory reports directly through PG&E’s Residential and Partnership Programs team; please email CommunityReports@pge.com

Energy Data Request Program (EDRP)
EDRP was established in 2014 by California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Decision 14-05-016. This decision required the utility companies that the CPUC regulates to provide access to energy usage data to researchers and government agencies, under limited use cases, to further the understanding of California energy use and conservation. If you qualify for EDRP, this program offers customized datasets for researchers, municipalities, and federal and state government agencies.
Who is eligible to receive data under EDRP?
- Academic researchers (faculty staff of University of California or other nationally accredited non-profit college or university) requesting data for projects that are sponsored by a university or college staff professor, advance the understanding of California's energy use and conservation or grid operations, and are certified by their Institutional Review Board. The institution must also meet PG&E's requirements for confidentiality and data security.
- State and federal agencies who demonstrate the requested data is required to comply with state or federal mandated reporting, including the California Department of Community Services and Development requests for usage or weatherization data for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
- CPUC Decision 14-05-016 also approved release of aggregated or anonymized usage data to local governments requiring usage data for Climate Action Planning, under a confidential Terms of Use Agreement. Under EDRP, the CPUC defined different rules for aggregated or anonymized energy usage that can be provided to local governments.
